About The Study Lead

The S.I.S.T.E.R.S. Research study is designed and led by Loneke T. Blackman Carr, PhD, RD (registered dietitian/nutritionist), at the University of Connecticut. She runs the Reaching Equity in Nutrition, Exercise, and Weight (R.E.N.E.W.) Lab at UConn, which focuses on black women's health.

 

Her expertise is in behavioral weight control interventions and obesity. She develops and evaluates interventions to improve weight loss, nutrition and physical activity. A central focus of her work is creating interventions that are effective for black women to address health disparities.

 

In addition to her appointment in the department of nutrition, Loneke is affiliated with the following entities: UConn Health Disparities Institute, UConn InCHIP, UConn Center for mHealth and Social Media, UConn Rudd Center for Food Policy & Obesity, Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social Equity at Duke University
